The Man Cave… Patron of the Arts

A long time ago, someone very dear to me gave me advice. Part of which was basically ‘At some point in your life have some kind of art made for you, it doesn’t matter what it is’.
Now as a self confessed geek/ nerd, I’ve always gone for things that have resonated with me, on one level or another. Whether that was toys, what I read, games, art, etc.
When I was in my early 20’s I got a tattoo, to always remind myself of what ideals and principles to strive for (my scrawny arms just happened to come free with the tattoo).

Recently I learned that an artist I know, thru my love of all things geek, was accepting commissions. As I have been a fan of his art style,  I jumped on that chance and had a piece of art commissioned of my 3 favourite characters from the Marvel universe.

The artist, was Wayne Talbot. One third of the Irish Pubcast crew, Whovian, contributor to geekirelandonline, and alround nice guy.

With his permission I grabbed a couple of his works, and thru them together to showcase some of his talent.

**Disclaimer- the first piece of art featuring ‘Dark Wayne’ was by another very gifted artist, Lisa Marie Farrell, and was commissioned by Ciaran Marcantonio. **

If you like Wayne’s style, then good news. He’s accepting some commission work at the moment.
You can contacting him on Facebook, on Twitter (@waynetalbot) or by Email (wadetalon@gmail.com)

Gundam Custom Competition – Petit’GGuy

My Gundam Club is running a new custom competition. This time round, we’ll be using the High Grade, 1/144 scale, Petit’GGuy as the base kit.
I have a few ideas for my custom but I’m not sure if which one I’ll go with. Some will need a bit of a kit bash, and others will just need a paint job.
Some of the ideas I have are:

Deadpool

Attack on Titan

Hello Kitty

Batman Beyond

So, what do you guys & girls reckon? Any ideas yourselves?
Until next Time, I’ll see you at the table.

Memes… the greatest creation of this generation

Every generation can be basically credited with some creation or discovery.  We had the creation of the steam engine and automobile, the Wright Brothers and flight, the discovery of antibiotics, the creation of the atomic bomb, travelling to the moon, the creation of the internet, and whats for this generation…

Memes (and the Selfie. Dont get me started about Selfies), it doesnt say much for the future of humanity with the sudden down turn in intellect.

Anyways, for something thats basically ‘Caption this image’, the use of memes & memes generators are now common place. They’re used to express ones feelings, idea’s, distastes and comedy.

I love memes… i think they’re great. I get a great giggle out of them, and I’ve actually built up a bit of a collection of them, for usage in my daily digital life.

I came across an article today about Sean Bean from November 2015, that made me laugh and sad at the same time.

You do know who Sean Bean is, right? Maybe you do, maybe you don’t.

If i started a memes that said ‘One does not simply….’, would you know now? Ringing any bells? How many memes have you seen with his face and those words?, (the poor fecker doesn’t even earn any money out of it).

After decades of TV and Films, his unintended legacy is memes. My friends and I, used to joke that he never played a character that lived to the end of a film…

…but now we joke about memes he shows up in.

Basically anything and everything nowadays can be made into a memes.

They can be used for humour…

image

They can be used to insult…

image

They can be used to express love…

And how we are feeling…

As a wargamer I’ve picked up a few hobby related ones…
