I got a new toy today, and its bloody massive.
Its the Zoids 1/72 Scale Highend Master Model (HMM) RZ- 041 Liger Zero Panzer by Kotobukiya under lience from Takara Tomy.
The box of this kit is massive. Honestly, it’s huge. To give an idea of how big the box is, here’s the box compared to a 2 litre jug of milk.
It’s massive, I’m glad I didn’t have to pay the postage on this bad boy cause I was lucky enough to get mine at Dublin City Comics and Collectables.
The contents of the box are no less impressive. Inside the box, there is 20 odd bags of sprues (bags of sprues, not single sprues) and an instruction guide.
To be honest I’m a little intimedated about the build but I am so looking forward to it.
Incase your unfimiliar about Zoids. Zoids is a science fiction
media franchise created by Tomy that feature giant robots (or “mecha”) called “Zoids”. A Zoid is essentially a large mechanical animal, with designs being based on animals such as Tigers, Lions, or various Dinosaurs.
Over the past 30 years there has been a nunber of animes, manga’s and relaunches of the brand in Japan, America and Europe. There has been a range of “Zoid” kits over the years from snap fits, motorized/ wind up kits…
…die cast kits, the HMM range and just last year Takara Tomy showed off their Masterpiece Shield Liger.
Personally I’m a bit sadden that “Zoids” hasn’t reached the level of popularity that Gundam’s enjoys.
Of all the model lines that have been released over the years, the Kotobukiya line (I think) is the best. The articulation, part separation, gimmicks and viauals of their kits is the biz.
Be sure to check back, every once in a while to see how the build goes.
